Today Sunday, October 28, the Blessed Beavers will meet at Ardantane--and
your help would be very welcome.

Come spend a day in the crisp autumn air and help us "batten down" for the
winter. We'll be putting the last little bits of hardipanel on the Dome, and
doing some "taping and glopping" of seams. We need to make a new cover for the
Recycling bin, and cover Hawk Haven's air conditioner, and probably do some
painting in the restroom. Some wall work is needed--yes, gathering and
stacking stones--and a bunch of other little projects. Time permitting, we might do
some insulating and drywalling inside the Dome.

Lunch, beverages, and happy fellowship provided, as well as Beaver Bucks.
We'll be starting about 8 am and wrapping up about 3 or 4, but you can arrive
and leave anytime. Contact _Director at ardantane.org_
(mailto:Director at ardantane.org) if you need directions. Hope to see you at Ardantane!

)O( )O( )O( )O( )O( )O( )O( )O( )O( )O( )O( )O( )O( )O( )O(
What: Introduction to Asatru: The Old Norse Path of Spirit
Sponsor: School of Pagan Spirituality
When: Sat-Sun Nov 3-4
Where: Ardantane

Instructor: William Bainbridge

This class is designed to present accurate information on the practice of
the pre-Christian religious tradition of the Germanic cultures and its
continuation in modern times, provide an opportunity to experience some of the more
important ceremonies and practices of contemporary Asatru, and suggest ideas
and techniques connected with Germanic spirituality that participants might
find helpful in their own spiritual work, whether or not that work happens
within a Heathen setting. Taking this class should enable students to navigate
knowedgeably and place in context what they might encounter in discussions of
Asatru at gatherings and on-line. Some theoretical and practical work with
the runes will be included.

Equally important, however, we will spend significant time exploring the
ideas of Wyrd, Orlog (roughly, “personal destiny”), and Frith (very roughly, “
right relationships”), as well as the symbology of the Wells, the World Tree,
and the Norns. Taken together, these things provide both a basis for
understanding the core perceptions and world-view underlying many of the modern
efforts to revive, reconstruct and practice Asatru, and the means by which the
indigenous Germanic spiritual tradtion can effectively address the “big questions
” of ontology, meaning, our relationship with the Earth, and how we might
constructively live and act in the world. We expect to approach these
profound questions with humor, perspective, and of course, mead.
